Project information
South Australia (SA) is faced with the challenge of developing and implementing alternative water supplies to ensure the needs of the growing community are met – even in times of drought.
Alternative drinking water resources that are rainfall independent will reduce the stresses on some of Adelaide’s major water resources, such as the River Murray and ground water reserves. As part of the SA Government’s plan to enhance the State’s drinking water supplies, the $1.8 billion Adelaide Desalination Project is crucial in securing our future.
The plant, located approximately 25km southwest of Adelaide city, includes the construction of a desalination plant at Port Stanvac and a transfer pipeline. AdelaideAqua - a multi-national consortium of companies comprising McConnell Dowell Constructors, Abigroup Contractors, ACCIONA Agua and TRILITY - has been awarded the contract to design, build, operate and maintain this critical infrastructure.
